No Happy Nonsense

About Site

No Happy Nonsense was created in 2018 by me, Mike V. It's a place for short fiction, essays, reviews, podcasts, running, and anything else I can cook up in the brain-kitchen.

It also may/may not have little blurbs or quotes from books, cool videos, links to good sites, and other general weirdness.

This site is hosted on Neocities and entirely hand-coded by me. It should work mostly okay on both computers and mobile devices.

If anything looks wonky or you think I can do a better job of making the site more accessible, please let me know.

I manually publish an RSS feed of all the main posts of the site.

Alternatively you can receive posts by email:

    About Me

I'm a creative(?) person living in New Jersey. I've had work published in Motel Strigoi, EATING IN MY HOME, Piki Geek, The Medium, and other publications that no longer exist.

I have a few reviews published on the independent literature review site The Reading Project.

In 2019 I decided to just make a podcast for a handful of weeks. Some people liked it.

In 2020 I started Ear Rat Magazine, an ongoing themed zine featuring work primarily from other Neocities users. The zine has published 7 issues and is still active, albeit it moves slowly.

Also in 2020 (right at the end there) I started writing The Weirdy Wordy, the weekly newspaper for the fictional town of Oddland, USA. I published 106 consecutive issues over the course of two years and then bailed abruptly.

Feel free to email me with questions, comments, cool stuff, or collaboration opportunities.

Here I am, running uphill forever
